Grindstone RP

Server Rules

At GrindstoneRP, we strive to maintain a realistic, immersive, and respectful roleplay environment. We hold our players to a high standard. All members of the community are expected to understand, follow, and keep up to date with these rules at all times.

Violation of any rule may result in disciplinary action, including a temporary or permanent ban, depending on the severity. Our staff team uses their discretion when determining punishments. In extreme or ongoing cases, we reserve the right to remove players from the community even in the absence of video evidence, especially when behavior is consistently toxic or disruptive.

Remember: Being part of this server is a privilege, not a right. You are responsible for staying informed via our Discord and official announcements.

• Age Requirement

You must be 18 years of age or older to play on GrindstoneRP. Exceptions will be made depending on your maturity. Lying about your age is grounds for immediate removal.

• Microphone Requirement

A clear, functioning microphone is mandatory. Inability to effectively communicate in voice will limit your RP and may result in removal until resolved.

• Toxicity and Harassment

Any form of toxic behavior, personal attacks, threats, harassment, hate speech, or discriminatory language is strictly prohibited, both in-character and out-of-character. This includes interactions on Discord, Twitch, Twitter/X, or any other online platform associated with GrindstoneRP.

• Zero Tolerance Language Policy

Use of slurs, ableist language (e.g., the”r-word”), or similar TOS-violating terms is not allowed and will result in immediate disciplinary action.

• Explicit or Offensive Naming

Usernames, character names, and any references involving lewd, suggestive, hateful, or inappropriate terms are not permitted. This includes names referencing famous individuals, brands, political figures, or existing IPs.

• No Erotic Roleplay (ERP)

ERP or sexually explicit conduct is strictly forbidden. This includes graphic or suggestive sexual dialogue, simulated acts, the posting of nudity, anything blatantly related to sexual content. Violating this rule will result in a permanent ban.

• DMCA Content Prohibition

Players are not permitted to stream, play, or broadcast copyrighted content (including but not limited to music, movies, or shows) while in-game. This is to protect both the server and streamers from DMCA claims.

• Cross-Community Behaviour

Actions taken outside of GrindstoneRP that directly harm or target other members (e.g., Discord harassment, targeted hate on social media) are taken seriously. The community expects respectful conduct across all platforms. Griefing outside the server will not be tolerated.

• Content Creator Accountability

If you are a streamer, you are responsible for your community. If your viewers consistently engage in harassment, trolling, or inciting OOC drama and you do not take reasonable steps to moderate or prevent this you may be removed from the server.

• Stay In Character:

  • You must remain in character at all times while in the city. Any OOC talk or behavior should be reserved for Discord or handled via the proper ticket channels.
  • Report bugs or issues after a scene has ended. Do not break character to resolve them mid-scene.
  • Technical issues must be roleplayed to maintain immersion (e.g., “head popped” → “I passed out”).
  • Complete your character creation before entering the city. “Danny” faces are immersion-breaking and are not allowed.
  • Each character must remain distinct. Characters should not share knowledge, friends, enemies, or assets. This includes avoiding nicknames like "cousins" or “alter egos.”
  • You cannot have multiple characters affiliated with the same gang, crew, or circle. Each character must live a separate, independent life.
  • You may not reference or speak about other characters (yours or others’) as if they are connected unless it is backed by RP.
  • Referring to roleplay as “weird,” “strange,” or commenting on others’ RP in a derogatory way is not permitted.
  • Do not mock, comment on, or reference police SOPs or boredom during stops. This is considered low-quality RP (LQRP).
  • If you have not been active on the server for ~90 days, your property may be reclaimed. Logging in once a week just to avoid loss will not count as activity.

• Metagaming

  • Metagaming, which is using OOC knowledge in-character is strictly prohibited.
  • You may not use Discord voice, video calls, or stream sniping while in the city.
  • Watching GrindstoneRP streams while playing is not allowed.

• Powergaming

  • Forcing RP outcomes, using mechanics unfairly, or acting outside realistic character bounds is considered powergaming.
  • All actions should allow for fair player reaction and should never guarantee an outcome (e.g., “/me ties hands tightly” instead of “/me ties and gags with no escape”).
  • Vehicles with unbreakable windows, extremely small windows, covered fronts, bulletproof or those that provide an unfair advantage in shootouts are strictly prohibited from being used for any criminal activities.
  • Criminals cannot force victims to sell or give away property (cars, houses, businesses).
  • Using the /me command in a way that forces roleplay outcomes in your favor, rather than leaving it open-ended for all parties involved, is considered a form of powergaming and is discouraged.

• Combat Logging

  • Logging out to avoid consequences will result in a ban. Items gained during combat logging may be removed, and the scene may be voided at staff discretion.
  • If you crash, return as soon as possible and notify those involved.

• VDM / RDM

VDM (Vehicle Deathmatch): Using a vehicle to injure or kill someone without proper RP buildup is forbidden. RDM (Random Deathmatch): Attacking or killing players without valid reason, escalation, or RP buildup is not allowed

• Suicide RP

Suicide roleplay is never permitted. It will result in an immediate permanent ban.

• NLR (New Life Rule)

  • If you respawn at the hospital, you must forget how you got there. Do not retain memory of the scene that caused your injuries or death.
  • You may not return to the location of the scene for at least 30 minutes after respawning.
  • You may not seek revenge, re-engage in conflict, or act on any prior RP for at least 60 minutes.

• Scene Return

  • If you are downed in any violent or police-involved scene, you are considered out of that scenario entirely.
  • You may not return to the scene after being revived by EMS or respawning at the hospital. This includes loitering nearby or returning in a new outfit/vehicle to spectate.

• Value of Life

  • You must always value your life and safety in a realistic manner.
  • If a weapon is drawn on you and you do not already have one out, you are expected to comply unless escape is realistically possible.
  • Do not take reckless actions that ignore your character's mortality (e.g., jumping from buildings, cliffs, or running into gunfire).
  • If you are significantly outnumbered (e.g., 4:1), you are expected to comply with the larger group’s demands.
  • VoL applies in all life-threatening situations - including being held at gunpoint, surrounded in a robbery, or taken hostage.

• Green Zones

  • Apartments and Hospitals are designated Green Zones.
  • You may not initiate violent, criminal, or hostile activity in or directly outside of these areas.
  • You may not flee to a Green Zone to escape the consequences of your actions (e.g., hiding from police or robbers).
  • Initiating roleplay in a Green Zone that leads to someone being baited into violating these rules will be considered LQRP.

• Business RP Rules

  • Businesses are not considered Green Zones and are open to RP scenarios. However, certain restrictions apply:
    • You may not rob, kidnap, or attack uniformed business workers while they are actively on duty, unless there is clear, strong RP buildup leading to the event.
    • Robbing workers during supply runs or deliveries must have legitimate RP backing and should not be random or chain-targeted.
    • Attacking business employees without any story or build-up is considered LQRP.
    • You may not raid or steal from a business stash. These are crucial to the economic and RP balance of the server.

• Police & Government RP

  • Characters in Police, DOJ, DOC, or EMS roles must adhere to strict professional conduct. Corruption of any kind, including selling equipment, leaking information, or assisting criminals, is not allowed unless part of an approved storyline.
  • You are not permitted to shoot at police officers during minor or routine traffic stops. Escalation must be justified and built up properly. Shooting PD randomly is LQRP and will lead to a ban.
  • Cop baiting, intentionally provoking officers into pursuits or confrontations without proper RP is strictly prohibited.
  • Robbing PD, DOJ, or EMS characters solely to obtain gear or loot (e.g., guns, ifaks) is not allowed. These roles are vital to community balance.
  • You may not use police officers as hostages unless the RP has sufficient buildup, realism, and staff approval if extreme.
  • Talking about SOPs during arrest scenes (e.g., “you’re breaking SOP,” or “you can’t do that”) is immersion-breaking and not allowed. Handle such issues through a ticket.
  • If you have multiple characters, you may not have one working in PD and use your PD knowledge on your second character(s). No cross-character knowledge or indirect collaboration is permitted.
  • EMS roleplay should be respected. Failing to respond, trolling, or refusing to engage with EMS when injured will result in consequences.
  • Hospital camping (waiting at the hospital to finish or restart conflict) is not permitted.

• Quality of Roleplay Rules

  • Committing any form of crime, including house robbing, selling drugs, robbing other players, and shooting weapons, is strictly prohibited within the 30 minutes before and after a server restart. This rule is in place to ensure a smooth transition during server restarts and prevent disruptive activities that could impact the overall gameplay experience.
  • Maximum 6 players per side may participate in a scene with violence (civilians or gang members).
  • Each side may use a maximum of 3 vehicles per scene.
    • If your vehicle is disabled or damaged, you must repair it. Swapping it out for a new one from a garage mid-scene is not allowed.
  • No more than 2 people may be in a trunk, regardless of the vehicle's size.
  • Looting (phones, SIM cards, licenses, food, etc.) must be justified with RP. Do not wipe pockets just for profit.
  • You may not force players to withdraw cash from ATMs or banks.
  • Chain robbing or chain scamming is not allowed. You must have solid, ongoing RP reason for any scam.
  • Vehicle or property scams (e.g., pretending to sell then stealing items) are not allowed.
  • Robberies cannot occur in legal job zones (e.g., mining, fishing, waste, etc.).
  • Cop baiting, or intentionally provoking LEOs into unnecessary conflict without RP buildup, is LQRP.
  • Camping crime locations to get “first dibs” on criminal activities (e.g., hacking stations, banks) is not allowed.
  • Posting illegal locations publicly, selling illegal locations publicly, and posting photos of illegal locations is not allowed.
  • Posting publicly selling "guns" "drugs" etc illegal things blatantly is not allowed.
  • Do not breach or third-party ongoing heists or events once a hack or robbery has started.
  • Gunplay must not replace roleplay. Always escalate with dialogue. Initiating with silent tackles or sudden shots is powergaming.
  • You may defend yourself or property, but must initiate verbally first.
  • Do not block entrances to apartments or hide items in inaccessible parts of housing or furniture.
  • Camping or staking out a location for the purpose of committing crime is not allowed. You must leave the area for at least 5 minutes before returning.
  • Rooftop holdouts, solely to avoid consequences or loot cops, are LQRP.
  • Participating in shootouts solely to loot fallen officers or players is not valid RP.
  • Aircraft usage must be realistic:
    • Do not crash helicopters or use them to ram others.
    • Do not use aircraft as an easy escape or to "hot drop" into gang fights.
    • Aircraft must only be used for travel, scouting, or staff-approved missions unless you are a trained PD pilot.
  • No supernatural, immortal, or invincible RP. All injuries must be roleplayed appropriately.
  • If you are downed or shot, you must scream, groan, or roleplay being injured. Do not talk normally or give out intel while incapacitated.
  • If you have a civilian character, you cannot do deals with a gang that your criminal character is in.
  • You may only have one WL Job. For example: You cannot work at LSC and the Pawn Shop.

• Looting & Robbery

  • Looting must be directly tied to the RP and the outcome of the scene. It should never be the primary goal.
  • Looting downed players mid-scene, without roleplay, or while under active threat is not allowed.
  • You may not circle or linger near active scenes just to loot bodies once a shootout ends.
  • If you kill or down someone, looting should be part of the continuation of RP, not just a grab-and-go for valuables.
  • Any looting that ignores scene tension, fails to consider your character’s fear/safety, or is used to gain an out-of-character advantage is considered LQRP.

• Fail RP

  • Canceling emotes or animations to avoid restraints or effects.
  • Spamming interactions or mechanics to speed up animations (e.g., lockpicking, repairing, robbing).
  • Pulling vehicles out mid-pursuit from impound or garage.
  • Robbing someone without reason or proper RP lead-up.
  • Repeated use of the same location for shootouts in short succession.
  • Initiating violence without roleplay or build-up.
  • Talking normally while your character is incapacitated or shot - especially while giving out intel or taunting.
  • Swimming far offshore, diving mid-combat, or using ocean escapes unrealistically.
  • Quoting or referencing SOPs to PD during scenes (“you can’t do that” / “that’s against SOP”).
  • Playing supernatural characters or creating invincible personas that ignore injury.
  • Using tasers to pop tires or other non-realistic tactics.
  • Trolling EMS, refusing to RP injuries, or taunting while in their care.
  • Engaging in combat for the sole purpose of looting players or PD.
  • Intentionally stalling or refusing to respond during RP to disrupt flow (e.g., “going AFK” in cuffs).

• Cheating / Exploiting

  • Cheating, hacking, or use of third-party tools (e.g., aimbots, ESP, speedhacks) will result in an instant permanent ban.
  • Modifying your game to gain an unfair advantage - including PVP sound packs, no recoil, no shadows, or excessive brightness mods is strictly forbidden.
  • Macroing or automating gameplay (e.g., crafting, farming, keypress spam) is not allowed. Items or wealth gained through macros will be wiped.
  • Using no shadows or forcing graphical settings to remove ambient effects is considered an exploit. Shadows must remain enabled.
  • Exploiting bugs is strictly prohibited. This includes duplication glitches, invisible item use, or bypassing systems.
  • Camping animal or vehicle spawns (e.g., waiting at a known location to farm them) is not allowed.
  • Circumventing emote cooldowns through F8 or other means is considered an exploit.
  • Players may be asked to provide POV (recordings). Refusing to provide it, or tampering with the footage, may lead to disciplinary action.

• Permitted:

  • Cosmetic or audio modifications that do not provide an unfair advantage are allowed (e.g., reshades, improved car audio).
  • Binding text or commands to keys for convenience is allowed so long as it does not affect combat.

• Gang Rules

  • Gangs must be story-driven, not solely conflict-based. Creativity and originality in gang concepts are encouraged.
  • Gangs should have unique themes, goals, and RP directions. Criminal activity is valid, but constant shootouts are not.
  • Gang conflict should evolve through RP, social media tension, and in-character dialogue, not instant shootouts.
  • You may not have more than one character involved with the same gang or affiliated circle.
  • Initiating gang fights must involve dialogue and escalation, no silent attacks or one-sided initiations.
  • You may not use gang RP as an excuse to grief, provoke others, or repeatedly harass civilians.
  • No Real Life Gang names can be used at all (e.g., Yakuza, Bloods, etc).
  • The Gang Rules outline how to apply, operate, and escalate your gang within the server.

• Prison & Convoy Rules

  • Prison breaks are only allowed for sentences of 5 hours or more.
  • If you are playing a "lifer" (life sentence), you may not escape prison unless staff approval is obtained through a ticket.
  • You must act as if DOC staff are present, even if none are. Treat prison with seriousness and structure.
  • You may not break into prison without strong RP or coordination. Breaking in randomly is considered LQRP.
  • Prison breaks must use in-game mechanics. Do not fake a break or improvise non-mechanical escape routes.
  • Using PD or DOC officers as hostages during escapes must be part of a well-structured RP plan and will be heavily scrutinized.

• Prison Transports

  • Attacks on prison transports must occur outside of the prison.
  • PD numbers will be capped to ensure balance and opportunity for escape.
  • A maximum of 6 attackers plus 1 freed inmate (7 total) may participate in the breakout.
  • The goal should always be escape, not full elimination of law enforcement. Killing all PD is considered LQRP.

• Punishments & Appeals

  • Temporary bans are final and cannot be appealed.
    • Temporary bans are final and cannot be appealed.
    • Permanent bans may be appealed after 30 days.
    • "Unfit for Community" bans may be appealed after 90 days.
    • After three denied appeals, you are permanently banned from GrindstoneRP with no further review.
    • Creating tickets to complain about your ban while it is active may extend your ban time.
    • Ban evasion (including using alternate accounts, VPNs, or having someone else play your character) will result in a permanent, unappealable ban.

    • Staff Discretion Clause

    • Staff have the right to issue bans without video evidence when a player demonstrates a consistent pattern of harmful behaviour, rule breaking, or poor attitude.
    • This includes toxicity, repeated LQRP, community disruption, or gameplay that clearly breaks the spirit of the server.
    • GrindstoneRP is a curated roleplay space, access is not guaranteed, and staff reserve the right to remove players who threaten the quality of the experience for others.

    • Reporting Incidents & Compensation Reporting

    • All incident reports must include:
    • Clear video evidence from your POV, with game audio included.
    • At least 2 minutes of footage showing context and aftermath of the event.
    • If the footage is clipped or lacks relevant context, it may not be processed.

    • Compensation

    • Compensation may be issued for loss of items due to bugs, confirmed hackers, or server-side issues.
    • You will be required to submit clear evidence of the issue and your inventory before and after.
    • Compensation is not provided for losses caused by other players unless a rule break is confirmed.
